Last Saturday saw the first beginners ceramic Welsh sheep workshop at Parc Slip where everyone had the opportunity to create their own little sheep complete with flowers in their hair and one even had a little cap!
As you can see from the photos below! A very happy flock of Welsh sheep.
The Workshop Experience
The Ceramic for Beginners Workshops offers a truly memorable atmosphere where you will create your own ceramic sheep, highland cow, bird and more! Surrounded by the stunning Welsh landscape in South Wales. Under the guidance of myself, you will receive clear, step-by-step instructions to shape your own sculpture. This hands-on experience will allow you to create a lasting memory that you can take home.
During the workshop, you will learn various techniques, such as pinch pots and the need for a structurally sound piece which are foundational skills for ceramics making. You will be surrounded by a supportive community of fellow creatives, eager to chat and make friends so whether you attend on your own or with others you will receive a warm welcome at the Wedge Ceramics workshops in Wales.
What Makes It Special?
Every participant will leave with a feeling of productivity and a unique piece of art that expresses their creativity and will be a lasting memory. Whether your creation is cute, quirky or traditional you will have a piece of art to add to your home and enjoy.
You could even keep it a secret and save it ready to use as a Christmas gift!
What to Expect
The workshop will begin with a discussion about the materials and tools you will use, including clay, sculpting tools etc. Everything you will need will be supplied but if you plan on attending regularly I would suggest investing in a proper pottery apron like this one - which is great to keep your clothes clean and tidy. Check it out by clicking the button below.

Next, it's time to get creative. You’ll have ample time to personalise your sheep in countless ways. For instance, you can experiment with different wool effect techniques or add fun decorative elements like flowers or hats / scarves.
Throughout the workshop, enjoy a quick break to grab a coffee and cake allowing you to connect with fellow participants. This is a fantastic opportunity to share experiences and pick up tips from others.
